Glencore – Pannon Vegetable Oil Refinery (ISBL/OSBL)
General design for a complex EPC industrial oil refinery project

The vegetable oil refinery development in Foktő is one of the most complex expansions of the Pannon Vegetable Oil Plant’s industrial site, forming part of a processing capacity development integrated into an international food and raw materials supply chain. The project was implemented as part of an industrial investment associated with the Glencore Group and was designed according to high-level technological, logistical, and safety requirements.
The facility includes a complete vegetable oil refining technological unit, where crude vegetable oil undergoes industrial processing, purification, and refining. A key feature of the project is its highly complex, interdependent technological and infrastructure system, in which architectural, structural, and process engineering elements operate in close integration.

Bim.GROUP was responsible for full-scope general permitting and construction design documentation within a complex full EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) industrial investment.
Key focus areas of the design work included:
- full integration of technological and architectural systems
- technical coordination between ISBL and OSBL systems
- design within a high-risk industrial environment
- coordinated development of piping, tank, and steel structures
- ensuring both constructability and operability
One of the main engineering challenges of the project was organizing multiple industrial systems (process technology, architecture, mechanical engineering, and infrastructure) into a single coherent, permit-ready, and buildable system.
