General design for the industrial and logistics expansion of an iconic Hungarian food industry company
PICK Szeged is one of Hungary’s most well-known and internationally recognized food industry companies. Built on more than a century of tradition, it has become one of the region’s leading meat product manufacturers. The company’s production and logistics base in Szeged has evolved through continuous development into a complex, high-capacity industrial system that simultaneously serves production, processing, and logistics operations.
The developments were implemented in several phases across different functional units, with a key focus on a greenfield investment creating a new production and logistics complex, alongside related brownfield expansions.

One of the most significant elements of the project was the greenfield development, within which an entirely new industrial system was created. bim.GROUP was responsible for full-scope general design for an industrial and logistics facility of approximately 96,960 m². The goal of the development was to create a high-capacity, modern food production and logistics center operating with a high level of automation, advanced hygiene systems, and efficient material flow logic.
During the design process, key priorities included:
- optimized spatial organization of production and logistics processes
- integration of strict food industry hygiene requirements
- development of a flexible hall system adapted to large-scale operations
- architectural and structural integration of industrial-scale automated technologies
In addition to the greenfield investment, several brownfield developments were also carried out at the PICK Szeged site.
