Rheinmetall Lynx Combat Vehicle Factory
General design for a world-class defense industry investment

The Rheinmetall combat vehicle factory in Zalaegerszeg is one of the most significant industrial investments in Hungary’s defense industry, with major international relevance. The facility was developed in direct proximity to the ZalaZONE automotive testing track and was realized through cooperation between Rheinmetall and the Hungarian state. It serves as the production hub for Lynx (KF41) infantry fighting vehicles.
The project is not only an industrial development but also of strategic importance: it is a complex production and integration base that combines research and development, manufacturing, and testing at a single location. The investment is a flagship element of Hungary’s defense industry development program and is closely integrated into the ZalaZONE ecosystem. The facility, comprising approximately 30,000 m² of production halls, utilizes state-of-the-art defense manufacturing technologies and has created several hundred new jobs in the region.

Bim.GROUP was responsible for full-scope general design services for an industrial complex of approximately 50,000 m².
Key priorities during the design process included:
- integration of high-level security and defense industry requirements
- optimized spatial organization of production and logistics processes
- functional and technological integration with the ZalaZONE testing environment
- architectural and structural support for internationally advanced manufacturing systems
The general design task was carried out in an extremely complex industrial environment, where production technology, logistics, and security requirements operate within a single integrated system.
The Rheinmetall Zalaegerszeg facility is an internationally recognized reference project, contributing both to the development of Hungary’s defense industry and to the expansion of global military vehicle production capacity in Europe. A key feature of the facility is that the entire lifecycle—development, manufacturing, and testing—takes place at a single site, which is rare in terms of industrial complexity.
The proximity of ZalaZONE provides a further strategic advantage, as the testing track and manufacturing facility are directly connected, significantly accelerating and improving the efficiency of development cycles.
