The Faculty of Civil Engineering at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics once again organised its Scientific Students’ Associations Conference, where the most outstanding bachelor’s and master’s students presented their research findings across seven parallel sections. The long-established conference was once again a great success, with bim.GROUP Kft. presenting a Special Award to one of the participating students.

Kocsis András Balázs, Lead Design Engineer for Business Development at bim.GROUP Kft., served as a member of the judging panel for the Structural Engineering 1 section. The section featured engaging and forward-looking presentations on special composite structures, reinforced concrete and aluminium structures, as well as bridge structures.

The bim.GROUP Special Award was presented to Rozgonyi Dániel, an MSc student who placed second at the conference, for his paper entitled “Numerical Investigation of Shear Connections in Composite Trusses”.

The theoretical background of composite trusses remains a relatively under-researched field, meaning that designers currently have access to only limited guidance and practical experience. The innovative nature of the paper and its relevance to the company were the key reasons why Dániel was selected to receive the award.
