bim.GROUP’s Project Ranks Among Australia’s Best!

We previously reported that one of our company’s flagship projects, Australia’s Rozelle Interchange, had received a regional award as one of the leading developments in its category. The project has now earned another prestigious recognition. The regional winners went on to compete at national level, and we are proud to announce that, partly thanks to bim.GROUP’s contribution, this iconic urban artwork has been ranked among Australia’s finest projects.

A total of 48 state and territory winners competed across six categories at the 2024 Australian Steel Institute National Steel Excellence Awards. This year’s competition featured exceptionally strong entries and outstanding developments. The Rozelle Interchange competed in the “Small Buildings Under $10 Million” category and ultimately claimed first place.

bim.GROUP was proud to contribute to the delivery of the Australian Rozelle Interchange project, led by Studio Chris Fox. As part of a truly international team, our colleagues were responsible for modelling the steel structures and preparing the fabrication documentation. The client, structural engineering partners, subcontractors and manufacturers involved in the project were based in different parts of the world, including Australia, Germany and India.

The result is an impressive steel structure that brings together ecological systems from the past, present and future while integrating seamlessly into the natural and urban environment of Rozelle Bay.

“This has been the most outstanding project of my 21-year career. It was particularly valuable to experience how differently designers are regarded on the other side of the world compared with Hungary. They are seen much more as problem-solvers, rather than as a necessary inconvenience. On this project, the designer’s word carried real authority, and no one even considered questioning it. I have never received as much respect from project partners as I did from the Australian and German teams,” said Boros Gábor, Head of the Fabrication Design Team, reflecting on the project.
