On 5 June, bim.GROUP colleagues attended the 17th International Construction Conference in Szeged, whose central themes included the role of BIM, digitalisation and artificial intelligence in design and construction practice.

bim.GROUP was represented by two professional presentations. In his lecture entitled “BIM Fundamentals – What Does BIM Mean in Practice?”, Kocsis András Balázs emphasised that BIM is not simply a technology or software application but a collaborative model whose greatest value lies in information sharing and coordination among project participants.

He explained how information becomes a model and subsequently a decision-support tool throughout a facility’s entire lifecycle. He also discussed the practical application of key standards and frameworks such as ISO 19650, EIR and BEP. The presentation explored the most common misconceptions and potential pitfalls encountered during BIM implementation, highlighting that clearly defined expectations and appropriate information management are essential to successful adoption.

In his presentation entitled “Programming-Assisted Design in Practice”, Innovation Manager Lewandowski Dávid introduced the role of parametric and algorithmic thinking within design processes. The presentation focused on an approach in which static geometric models are replaced by dynamically responsive systems based on predefined rules and relationships.

Participants gained insight into the practical applications of visual scripting and programming. They were also introduced to automations, plugins and custom tools developed by the Innovation Office to support everyday design workflows.

Using real-world project examples, the presentation demonstrated how automated processes contribute to faster, more accurate and more efficient engineering while providing a significant competitive advantage in design projects.
