Parametric Design for BME Students – A Professional Lecture for the Engineers of the Future
Bim.GROUP colleagues are regular guest lecturers at BME. This time, Gyuricza Arnold, Lead Project Designer at the Steel Structures Office, delivered a lecture as part of the Department of Structural Mechanics’ new course, “Introduction to Parametric Structural Design”.
The course aims to introduce students to the theoretical foundations of parametric modelling and design, as well as their potential industrial applications, with particular emphasis on the engineering challenges of the future.
During the lecture, Arnold demonstrated the practical application of parametric design methods through two of bim.GROUP’s flagship projects:
- MOL Campus – Hungary’s tallest building at 143 metres, for which bim.GROUP prepared fabrication designs and structural connection calculations.
- Jedlik Ányos Secondary School – A Construction Industry Award of Excellence-winning project for which our team completed the full structural design process, from concept development through to construction.
Through these examples, the students gained a comprehensive understanding of the practical role of parametric design in the detailed and fabrication design of steel structures.
Educational engagement forms an important part of bim.GROUP’s long-term objectives. The company aims to contribute actively to the development of engineering education and promote the latest digital design methods among the next generation of industry professionals.
